Major Championship Winners

In the beginning, the overall tour winner was determined by the main tour "National" tournament (so, in the late 70s the NRC "National" Championship. Post 1982 a conventional points-based tour was used, but there's always been a series of "Grand Slams" in racquetball.


US Open: Racquetball's premier event owned by USA Racquetball and hosted by Doug Ganim in Memphis, TN. 4/2010 update: Tournament moving to Minneapolis for 2010. Press release here. 2022 update: Ganim retires after 25 years of running the event and passes the responsibilty for running the event.     Motorola World Racquetball Championships: Starting in 2007, Motorola is sponsoring the tour's third "Grand Slam" event, which is also serving as the tour kickoff event. In the end of the 2009 season, Motorola withdrew its support and the event is no longer on the schedule.

    Chicago Open, Chicago, IL: In 2004, this tournament, which has existed in some form or another for years (formerly the Halloween Classic) exceeds even the US Open in total Prize money. The tournament's status as a "major" only lasted one year though, as the Las Vegas club that typically hosted the Pro Nationals closed, and Chicago became the ongoing host of Pro Nationals...
